We awoke on this Thursday morning to a cool and sunny autumn day. A joyful liturgy, offered for our Sisters of the Italian province, was celebrated by don Valerio Messina, Rector of the Seminary of Albano, who reminded us that the house of the Lord, spoken of in the first reading from the prophet Haggai, is for us Daughters of St. Paul the world of communications. At times, this house seems to be in spiritual ruins, and it belongs to our call to rebuild it into a place where people can find the Lord.
Just as in the Gospel of today Herod sought to understand the person of Jesus, many people today look to the world of communications and media for the truth and to find answers about the meaning of their lives and experiences. Behind a “like”, or a “share” on a Facebook page, there is often an anxious and unsettled heart, that is in search of the Lord, just like Herod.
As we continue our intense and profound work on the Working Document, we ask the Spirit to enlighten us on how to communicate today, with truth and love, Jesus—the light for humanity. May He make us capable of bringing hope to a world that never stops searching for Him. And may all those who seek Him in the world of communication find there the truth about the One who gives meaning to all our lives!
