The Mass celebrated by Father Gian Franco Poli, of the Diocese of Albano, animated by our sisters of the Italian Province, opened our day.

In his homily, Father Poli encouraged us in our Chapter work, in the spirit of the day’s Gospel. Jesus sent the apostles on mission—poor, free, and essential—inviting them to “proclaim a Word that saves and at the same time binds the wounds of humanity,” trusting fully in the Father’s providence, “without human certainties but with the power of the Spirit.”

Today more than ever, we are invited not to seek human security, but to base our trust solely on God. The paths we travel are not those trodden by the apostles, but the paths of communication—our unique and current mission field. It is precisely there, in the heart of the world of communications, that we are called to bring the Gospel of hope, to communicate Christ himself. This is the hope that also inspires the prophet Ezra, in today’s first reading, as he thanks God who never abandons his people.

Father Poli concluded his homily saying: “The Chapter is truly a time of Pentecost, a time to let ourselves be moved by the Spirit, who frees us and gives us the courage to embrace the new.” As the Chapter continues its work, may each of us continue to walk in this hope, with firm trust in the Lord.
